Frequently Asked Questions
General Questions
Do I need a referral?
No referral is required. You are welcome to book directly.
Do I need a diagnosis before booking?
No. Many people seek naturopathic support because they are experiencing symptoms, have ongoing health concerns, or simply do not feel their best. While a diagnosis can sometimes provide valuable information, it is not required. My role is to help you better understand your health and identify factors that may be contributing to your symptoms and overall wellbeing.
Can naturopathy help if my tests are normal?
Yes. Many people seek naturopathic support because they are experiencing symptoms despite being told that their test results are normal. While pathology testing can provide valuable information, it does not always explain the full picture. Naturopathy takes a broader view of health and wellbeing, considering factors such as nutrition, lifestyle, stress, environment and individual health history.
What happens during an initial consultation?
Your initial consultation involves a comprehensive review of your health history, current symptoms, medications, supplements, lifestyle factors and health goals. This allows me to develop a personalised understanding of your situation and create a treatment plan tailored to your individual needs.
How long is an initial consultation?
Initial consultations generally take between 60 and 90 minutes. Follow-up consultations are usually 30 to 60 minutes, depending on your needs and treatment plan.
Do you offer Telehealth consultations?
Yes. Consultations are available both from my clinic in Gladysdale, Victoria, and via Telehealth, allowing you to access support from the comfort of your own home.
Naturopathy
What is naturopathy?
Naturopathy is a holistic approach to health that aims to identify and address the underlying factors contributing to illness and imbalance. It combines traditional healing principles with modern scientific knowledge to support the body's natural capacity for health and wellbeing.
What types of treatment do you use?
Depending on your individual needs, treatment may include nutritional medicine, herbal medicine, dietary recommendations, lifestyle support, education, mindfulness-based approaches and other evidence-informed natural health strategies.
Will I need supplements?
Not necessarily. Recommendations are tailored to the individual. While supplements may form part of a treatment plan, they are only one aspect of naturopathic care and are not always required.
Can naturopathy work alongside conventional medical care?
Yes. Naturopathy can complement conventional healthcare and may be used alongside treatment provided by your GP, specialist or other healthcare practitioners. I encourage open communication and collaborative care wherever possible.
Can I see a naturopath if I am taking medication?
Yes. It is important that I am aware of any medications you are taking so that potential interactions can be considered when developing your treatment plan.
Do you offer microbiome testing?
Yes. Microbiome testing is available for clients who would like a more detailed assessment of their digestive health and gut microbiome. Where appropriate, I may recommend testing based on your individual health concerns, symptoms and treatment goals.
Can you recommend pathology or functional testing?
Where appropriate, I may recommend pathology testing through your GP or suggest functional testing to gather additional information relevant to your health concerns.
How many consultations will I need?
This varies depending on your goals, health concerns and individual circumstances. Some people seek support for a specific issue, while others choose ongoing care to support their long-term health and wellbeing.
Holistic Counselling
What is holistic counselling?
Holistic counselling recognises the connection between our thoughts, emotions, behaviours, relationships and physical wellbeing. Alongside talking therapy, I may incorporate mindfulness, body-based practices, parts work and archetypal approaches to support greater self-awareness and meaningful change.
Do I need to be a naturopathic client to access counselling?
No. Holistic counselling is available as a standalone service and may be booked independently of naturopathic care.
Can counselling be combined with naturopathy?
Yes. Holistic counselling can complement naturopathic care when appropriate.
While naturopathic consultations may draw upon counselling-informed approaches such as mindfulness, self-awareness and behavioural change, their primary focus is on supporting your physical health and wellbeing. If further support is required, dedicated counselling appointments are also available.
What issues can counselling help with?
People seek counselling for many different reasons, including stress, anxiety, burnout, life transitions, relationship challenges, grief, personal growth, self-esteem concerns and a desire for greater self-understanding.
