What Is Homeopathy?

Homeopathy is a system of medicine developed by Samuel Hahnemann in Germany during the late eighteenth century. Based on the principle of "like cures like", homeopathy uses highly diluted remedies prepared from plant, mineral and natural substances.

Unlike many approaches that focus solely on a diagnosis, homeopathy considers the unique way an individual experiences illness. Physical symptoms, emotional responses, personality traits, preferences and sensitivities may all contribute to the selection of a remedy.

For this reason, two people presenting with the same condition may be prescribed different remedies according to their individual symptom picture.

Homeopathy & Holistic Health

Homeopathy has been one of the traditional modalities used within naturopathic practice for many generations. Its focus on the individual rather than the disease aligns closely with the holistic principles that underpin naturopathic medicine.

Rather than viewing symptoms in isolation, homeopathy seeks to understand the person as a whole, taking into account physical, mental and emotional aspects of health.

Many people are drawn to homeopathy because of its gentle and individualised approach.

Homeopathy in My Practice

My studies have included formal practitioner training in Homeopathy through the Australian Institute of Applied Sciences, where I completed the theoretical component of practitioner training.

Homeopathy continues to form part of my naturopathic practice and may be used alongside nutritional, herbal and lifestyle recommendations where appropriate.

As with all aspects of naturopathic care, remedies are selected according to the needs of the individual, rather than a one-size-fits-all approach.

Common Areas of Use

Homeopathic remedies have traditionally been used to support a wide variety of acute and chronic conditions. As part of an individualised treatment plan, remedies may be considered for emotional wellbeing, stress, digestive complaints, hormonal concerns, allergies, recurrent illness and general constitutional support.

The selection of a remedy is always based on the individual rather than the condition alone.

"The highest ideal of cure is the rapid, gentle and permanent restoration of health."

— Samuel Hahnemann
